How the estimate works
- Height sets the base range from HomeAdvisor and Angi: up to 30 ft $150–$450; 30–60 ft $450–$1,200; 60–80 ft $800–$1,500; over 80 ft $1,000–$2,000.
- Diameter adjusts that range a little (our rough adjustment: thin trunks slightly down, very thick trunks up), because thicker wood takes longer to cut and haul.
- Proximity: near structures adds about 25%; over a structure about 50%, following the 25%–50% access premium cited by Angi and HomeAdvisor.
- Stump grinding adds a per-stump range based on HomeAdvisor's $120–$500 typical range, scaled by diameter.
- Emergency multiplies the total by about 1.5–2×, reflecting published guides saying urgent work costs well above standard rates.

Common questions
How accurate is this tree removal cost calculator?
It gives a rough ballpark based on national published cost ranges from HomeAdvisor, Angi and Forbes Home. It is not a quote. Local prices vary, and only an on-site estimate from a tree pro can give your real price.
Are these Tyler, TX prices?
No. The ranges are national averages, not a survey of Tyler-area prices. Prices in East Texas may be higher or lower.
Why does being near the house cost more?
Trees over roofs, fences or other structures usually have to be taken down in pieces with ropes, rigging or a crane instead of felled in one piece. Cost guides commonly list a 25% to 50% increase for hard-to-reach or risky locations.
Is stump grinding included in tree removal?
Usually not. HomeAdvisor notes stump grinding is rarely included in a removal quote. Typical grinding runs about $120 to $500 per stump.
What if the tree is touching a power line?
Do not touch it or let anyone but your electric utility work near it. Call the utility or 911. Utility crews must make the lines safe first.
